Mum jokingly creates mask with wine flap and it’s branded ‘best invention ever’

As of today, face masks are now mandatory in shops and supermarkets in England as part of government measures against coronavirus.

There are some exemptions to the rule but for everyone else it means you’ll have to remember to grab a mask when you head out shopping.

But one mum who got creative to jokingly fashion a face mask of her own has seen it hailed the ‘best invention ever’ – by incorporating a handy flap giving easy access to wine.

At this point please note that, although a wine flap would be a fantastic addition, it was done simply to give people a laugh and should not be copied for genuine use. Sorry.

Emily Rumbold attached elastic straps to an empty packet of wet wipes and shared an hilarious video of herself opening the plastic flap on the front and taking a sip of wine before closing it again.

The 36-year-old from Australia used packaging from Aldi and shared her invention in a Facebook group dedicated to the supermarket, where it went down a storm with other members.

She also uploaded it to TikTok with the caption: “Doing my bit to stop the spread,” as it racked up thousand of views on social media.

One viewer said: “Omg this is the best invention ever no joke.”

A second wrote: “This is exactly what I need,” as another commented: “Best idea out there!!”

Emily told the Daily Mail : “Without trying to take away the seriousness, I just wanted to have a bit of fun with it.

“There’s been a lot of mask videos going around and I thought I’d join in.”
